Why route instead of aggregate?

TruthMark routes you to authoritative sources rather than aggregating data, because state-run and federal-run sources are current and have legal disclaimers in place. A separate index here would be:

  • Stale by definition — records change constantly (status updates, address changes, de-listings) and any cache we kept would lag the official source.
  • Stripped of context — each regulator attaches its own legal disclaimers, ToS, and accuracy caveats. Aggregators silently drop those.
  • A misuse target — bulk download, vigilante targeting, harassment of family members and namesakes. The Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations (Principle 1: Do No Harm) argues against creating new attack surfaces of this shape.

Each module's methodology page goes deeper on the tradeoffs: Safety · Lawyers · Public Employees.

TruthMark routes queries; it does not aggregate records. Every search executes against the authoritative source that publishes the data.
